What's going on

I am finally able to post again, and wanted to show what has been going on.

I got to pick up my quilt last Saturday, but we had one of the nephews, so I didn't get to play with it. I finally got to put the binding on yesterday. This is still my favorite quilt that I have made. I love the colors, pattern, and now the quilting. It was quilted entirely freehand, with feathers in the center, following the nine patches at the border. It then has leaves in the setting triangles and the cream part of the border. The black part of the border was done with echo quilting. I can't get a picture that does it justice. The backing I had bought almost two years ago at a local shop, because I had to have it and she said she couldn't get it anymore. When I was piecing this quilt, it hit me that I had this and knew nothing else would fit as well.

I also got my Bee's Garden Thread Roll Stitched and Finished. This is the first finishing work of this kind that I have done, and it wasn't bad. From start to finish this was done all by hand. I did modify it to also work as a needlekeep by adding a piece of wool felt. Now I just need to stitch a fob to go on a pair of scissors, and I will be ready to stitch anywhere I go.

Thanks for letting me share.

Design Wall Monday 8/23/10

I have Fall Frolic laid out on the floor today ready to start sewing the rows together. The picture is sideways, but it shows it better that way.

I also have a request. I picked up these fabrics, but have no idea what to do with them. They are outside my norm, and I just don't know. The line is Belle Fleur by Avlyn. The 5 pieces on the left are yard cuts, the 4 on the right are half yards. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Head over to Judy's and see what everyone is working on.

My quilt is being quilted..Woo Hoo

My Blooming 9 patch is being quilted now and my quilter has posted some pictures on her blog. I can't wait to see this baby and get to show it off to the girls I stitch with. My hands have been itching to stitch the binding on before I ever got it dropped off at Judy's place.

Design Wall 8-16-10

On my design floor today is the start of Fall Frolic from the book 40 Fabulous Quick-Cut Quilts by Evelyn Sloppy. I am making it with Gobble Gobble by Sandy Gervais and am using a layer cake and jelly roll.

I have enjoyed looking at all the post over at Judy's, but I still can't make comments since I am on a borrowed computer to post and can't use up much of their time. Thank you all for the inspiration.

Also, if you want to see how I finished the blocks that I posted last week, it is on my last post.

Friday Finish

I have two flimsies to show today. The first is Avignon Picnic from the Moda Bake Shop website.

And this is my finished JRSAQ quilt. I took the advice in the comments on my last Design Wall post and found a dark fabric for the sashing and border. This is the purple solid from the Essence line by Sandy Gervais for Moda. It looks like suede and I love it. Thank you to Charlene S and Kwiltnkats for giving me the push I needed to decide.

Design Wall 8-9-10

On the wall today, I have my Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along blocks. I had made three blocks to trade out for ones I didn't like, but decided to keep them all and have a bigger quilt. Now I need to find a border fabric and get it completed.

I wasn't able to post any comments last week on people's design wall post, but I really enjoyed seeing them and look forward to them again today.
